In Bishnupur he participated in all the local festivals as percussionist, singer and dancer. He then entered the world of Bangla Kirtan as a Khol player and established himself as an unparalleled master of the instrument. Anadinath taught Tabla and Pakhowaj at the Bishnupur Music college ; very soon he became a distinguished Pakhowaj player of the Bishnupur gharana. He joined Visva Bharati, Santiniketan in 1949 and lived there for the rest of his life.
