Nicolas Roeg, known for films such as Don't Look Now, Walkabout, and The Man Who Fell to Earth, was never a director with whom audiences and critics have had an easy time. This is at least as much due to the content of his films as to their narrative, which is committed to the principle of disorder. Keyvan Sarkhosh shows how in implicit confrontation with and firm separation from the traditions of classical Hollywood cinema, Roeg's films substitutes a multilayered and intricate network, in which space and time are combined and condensed for linear narrative convention-based realism.
