This is an introductory text and lab manual that introduces the reader to the
Rockwell Automation ControlLogix Programmable Automation Controller
and RSLogix 5000 software. The first chapters introduce ControlLogix and
CompactLogix hardware, the RSLogix 5000 software, project organization, and
tag formatting, as well as digital and analog I/O configuration. After learning
what ControlLogix is and basic project organization, we move on to creating a
new project. An introduction to basic ladder logic programming and knowledge
of basic ladder instructions prepares you to create rungs. Once you have
completed creating your first project, we download, run, and monitor the newly
created project. We then move on to working with additional instructions such
as timers and counters, comparison, data handling, and adding documentation.
Chapter 17 introduces the Get System Values (GSV) and Set System Values
(SSV) instructions. The last chapter in this section introduces the Function Block
Diagram programming language, including interpretation labs.
