Singapore: Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, 1985. — 362 p.Шамсуддин Назаруддин. Восстание республиканцев: исследование ачехского мятежа (на англ. яз.)Contents:Introduction.Towards a Rebellion. The Rebellion.Jakarta's Responses.A Social Background of the Rebellion.Within the Darul Islam.Towards a Settlement.Conclusion.This book deals with the rebellion that occurred in Aceh in 1953-62. It traces the political stance of the Acehnese, a people who are well known for their centuries-old independency and heroism, in relation to their Central Government in Jakarta. The Acehnese were very loyal to the revolutionary Central Government during the most difficult time of the nation's struggle for independence from the Dutch colonial power, which was finally proclaimed in 1945. Ironically, once Indonesian independence had been recognized, the Acehnese stood up against Jakarta in a bloody massive rebellion. The author closely examines the course of that rebellion, its causes as well as factors that eventually brought the resistance to an end. Although the main theme of this book is about rebellion, it implicitly reveals the political life and ehaviour of the Acehnese.
